Sports Clubs in North Wiltshire
North Wiltshire is a home to several sports clubs. These clubs offer a wide spectrum of activities for people of almost every age group- right from age 4 to age 65+. Let some of these clubs be listed:
Badminton and Tennis
The list of badminton clubs includes Ashton Keynes, Calne, Chippenham 23, Colerne, Corsham, Kode, Lackham, Malmesbury, Neston, Springfield, White horse, Wootton Bassett, Chippenham 75, and Station Hill.
Cricket
The list of cricket clubs includes Biddestone, Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Cricklade, Goatacre, Grittleton, Malmesbury, Oaksey, Purton, Sherston, Spye Park, and Wootton Bassett.
Football
The list of football clubs includes Biddestone, Brazilian school of Soccer, Calne Town, AFC Youth of Calne, ‘Castle Combe Colts’, Chippenham Town, Corsham Town, Cricklade Youth, ‘Derry Hill United’, Hullavington, Malmesbury Youth, Sutton Benger, ‘White Horse Junior’, three clubs of Wootton Bassett including youth and ladies, and Corsham Town under 18’s.
Martial Arts
The list of clubs for martial arts includes Chippenham Aikido, Calne Shotokan Karate, Southern Shotokan Karate Association, Wootton Bassett Shotokan Karate, Chippenham Tae Kwon Do, Chippenham Junior tae Kwon Do and Little Ninjas, etc. Note that the Tae Kwon Do clubs exist in Calne, Malmesbury, Purton, Corsham, and Wootton Bassett as well.
Netball
There are netball clubs in Malmesbury, Corsham, Calne, and Chippenham.
Rugby
The list of rugby clubs includes Minety, and Sutton Benger. Besides this, there are rugby clubs in Calne, Chippenham, Colerne, Cricklade, and Malmesbury.
Squash
The list of squash clubs includes Chippenham Olympiad, Olympiad Hot Stuff, and Springfield Squash.
Water Sports
The list of clubs facilitating water-based activities include Calne Angling, Chippenham Angling, Calne Sub aqua, Chippen Dive, Sea Horse Diving, Chippenham Canoe, ‘Cotswold water Ski’, Whitefriars Sailing, Alpha 4 Swimming (Calne), Chippenham ASA, Malmesbury Marlins ASA, and many more.
Other Clubs
Chippenham is a home to activities like archery, hockey, cycling, basketball, and volleyball. Hence, there are clubs pertaining to these activities. Similarly, Calne contains clubs for running, bowls, comets volleyball, and bowls. Malmesbury encourages activities like boxing for amateurs, ‘short mat bowls’, and bridge. Such activities are encouraged by Wootton Bassett as well.
Arts Development
About ArtsNoW
This network is meant for performance and visual artists. The aim of ArtsNoW is creating an information network about arts in North Wiltshire. Secondly, it tries developing links between education, arts, and the entire community. Thirdly, advice and support about arts is provided. ArtsNoW undertakes initiatives like free talks twice a month, gallery at Pounds Arts Centre, and online newsletter twice a month. The website of ArtsNoW has also come up off late.
Community Arts training
The 4 district councils of North Wiltshire have come together for providing training courses which would equip groups and individuals wishing to utilize arts in work. These courses include aspects such as fundraising, planning, and managing the project of community arts.
‘Rural Arts’ Wiltshire
‘Rural Arts’ Wiltshire can be described as a get together of families, friends, old, and young in rural communities for enjoying affordable arts performances on a professional level or activities at their doorstep. These performances are organized on a voluntary basis in pubs, halls, schools, or other venues of villages.
